FRACTALS (SENSE OF ORDER)

Drawing comes close to writing and „producing theory“ for Moussa Kone. If we link the idea of theory to a literary corpus it is the word „text“, which comes from the Latin texere, and means „to weave“. Text is a woven structure of lines, like textiles are woven out of threads. It is this kind of weaving, of contextualizing, which serves as the main idea for this series. 2015.

MAGIC TREE

History is distinguished by the fact that it is no longer something present but has become something "absent". Initially, with the title "magic tree" itself, a current reference to the present is created: it refers to the small scented trees for vehicles, which are mass-produced to improve the air and can thus be seen as a synonym for ideology in historiography. 2012.

PLACES TO RECALL

EN POINTE (SWITCH LEGS, LEFT UP, AROUND, AND REACH)

PIECES OF SILENCE

The silence in the title has nothing calming about it. Prototypical peace only appears in quotation mode: Botticelli's Venus enthroned on top of a garden temple, reduced to blank sign and faceless. In their creative emphasis, the Renaissance is perhaps not by chance a rich source for an art that adopts a markedly sceptical treatment of creative energy. 2009.

RESETTING/PHANTASANA (CURTAIN FALLS)

The drawn setting continues into the real space, stools were provided as seating, and a curtain that ran the full length of the glazed facade created a circus ring-like atmosphere. This transformation of the gallery space into an arena adds topicality and poignancy to Moussa Kone's statement on the university context of his exhibition. 2008.

CRISIS

According to the dictionary the word "crisis" stems from "krisis", which was generally used to describe a difficult and dangerous situation or the turning point of a decisive situation. If one grasps a crisis as the basis for a decision among several possible variables that range in a context of the artistic process from the condition of the work to its potential for identifying with, then one understands that the artist has to deliberately create a work that is capable of emancipation as the power of the impersonal and of the nonhuman. 2007-2010.

ART CRITICS AWARD

The Art Critics Award, a prize for art criticism, puts a 180 degree turn on the usual relationships of appraisal and is based on an evaluation of art critics' work by artists. The prize, invented by Moussa Kone, does not serve as an act of revenge on the critics. The ACA is a venture about the way art criticism should be according to those at the receiving end. 2007-2011.

One industrially produced folding trestle, that has a profile like the greek letter Alpha, is complimented by an Omega made of hand-wrought steel. It makes a sweet melody chime from bronze bells that swirl in the exhibition space. They announce those moments when Moussa Kone is developing a new artistic ideas. 2007.
