EN POINTE (SWITCH LEGS, LEFT UP, AROUND, AND REACH)
This series deal with the classical ballet repertoire. "En pointe" means standing on the tip of one's toes, a situation of a permanent crisis. Requiring extreme body strength to
appear weightless. Dancers balance to abstract, simple geometric shapes, that are reminiscent to works of constructivism. The characters are
treated as the forms, depersonalized as an abstract design element. The human body as a social construct, the training as the physical input leading to its final definitions, between culture
and nature. Models for topics like dressage, conditioning one's mind or body through a certain technique, language, vocabulary etc. The original works are mounted in black frames
with black background paper, so the borders of the sheet of paper are hardly visible at the points where black ink is applied with a brush. 2010.
