WOUNDS AND WONDERS

This work was developed for a contemporary art exhibition at the baroque Melk Abbey. Moussa Kone relates his work to the Coloman breviary which was handed out to pilgrims in Melk in the 18th century. According to popular belief, the booklet had the power to protect its owner. The artwork mimics the form of a printed sheet used for book production. Mixed with magic charms in Yoruba language and images of the saint's legend it represents a bridge to the origins of faith and the human yearning to experience the Deity - and the power of bookmaking.
