“The mural works like a background for the public clock in the center, together they are a memorial. The quiet alley invites you to listen to the ticking clock, and think about the cycles of life.”

circulus vitiosus (make it Greta!)

Invited by H.P. Buber Artefakte (a private art collection), Moussa Kone developed a site-specific large-scale wall drawing for a private building, measuring 20 by 8 meters. It is located in a pedestrian's alley at the central square of a small village in Lower Austria. At the time, when the first sketches were drawn in the artist’s studio, the historic public village square was under construction and completely redesigned - unfortunately, with a huge roundabout for cars and trucks. Environmental and social destruction and the local dedication of public space to traffic thus became part of the work.

The skin pattern of the snake is inspired by the Austrian traffic sign for roundabouts. The caught figure reminds us of a young environmental activist and the wristwatch in the middle of the drawing is a real public ticking clock. The whole drawing is considered a huge clock’s face by the artist and in this sense it is a memorial. It shall make by-passers think about our global and local society's future politics. A leaflet with information about the art piece can be picked directly at the spot. The art installation is publicly accessible 24/7 at Hauptplatz 7, 3243 St.Leonhard am Forst, Austria (Google Maps).
